Are you sick of feeling stumped over what to give the person who has everything? Give the gift of your time and talents this year, and get all the good feels when you return some precious possessions back into loving arms.

Join us over two Sunday-morning sessions (26 November + 3 December) to mend things for your favourite people* this festive season – or just treat yourself to some dedicated ME(nding) time, with lovely tea and company.

Our guest teacher, mending expert Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald (ELF – yes, a real elf!), will help guide you through the techniques and supplies best suited to your projects.

No prior mending experience is required, but we recommend for beginners to tackle one small project, to allow enough one-on-one instruction and time for troubleshooting.

Suggested mends that make great gifts:

• darning socks
• de-pilling jumpers and cardigans
• mending moth holes
• patching jeans
• covering up gastronomic splotches on T-shirts
• fixing snags caused by fur-babies
• soft-toy surgery for your babies’ (or fur-babies’) babies

NOTE: This workshop will focus on mending by hand, and mega-mends, including those requiring sewing machines, may not be possible. If you have a crotch blowout that needs fixing, or buttonholes that need re-doing, head along to our Mending and Alterations Short Course in November instead.

The workshop price includes a copy of Erin’s book, Modern Mending, for you to use while you’re here and take home afterward. If you already own the book, bring it along to the workshop and enjoy $25 credit to spend on mending supplies from the modernmending.com shop instead.

SOSU has sewing thread, fabric scraps, scissors, irons and ironing boards available to use. A selection of modernmending.com shop supplies – including needles, thread, mending yarn and de-pillers – will be available to try and purchase at each session.
