The Vernon Shirt by Cashmerette is size expansive and designed for a wide range of cup sizes to ensure no gaping at the bust. Male students and those wanting a more gender-neutral shirt will make the All Day Shirt by Liesl + Co, Both patterns have variations and come with an ‘Intermediate’ skill level rating.

Course overview: Mastering the skills involved in shirt construction is a pre-requisite for the serious sewist. They boost your sewing knowledge immensely and can be applied to many other garments.

We first encounter shirt making in our Beyond Basics level course where we sew a casual lounge-style shirt with simpler methods. In this Intermediate level course we will make a tailored, classic shirt or blouse.  Elements include a separate collar stand and collar, front button placket, long set-in sleeves with a cuff and cuff placket, yoke, back pleat and bust darts.

Along with learning these more advanced essential sewing techniques, we will show you how to adjust patterns and garments-in-progress to achieve the perfect fit. You will required to purchase your own patterns and fabric. We will provide more info to help you two weeks before the course commences.

Skill level: This Intermediate level course is suitable for students who completed our Beyond Basics course (or possess an equivalent skill level). You have practiced essential garment construction techniques and can follow sewing patterns with some confidence.  Open to adults and young adults (minimum age 15yo). Men  and non binary folk are encouraged to attend! Contact us for a chat if you are not sure if this level is for you!

Booking Policies:  Due to our small class numbers (max 7) our courses are NON REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE. Be sure to familiarise yourself with all our Refund and Cancellation Policies before booking to avoid disappointment.
Make-up classes for missed classes are offered at our discretion depending on availability however we will do our best to fit you in.

Payment Options: Secure Credit Card (via Stripe) or Direct Deposit. If selecting Direct Deposit, payment is required within 24 hours of booking to secure your place. Our bank details are in the confirmation email you will receive upon booking. 

For bookings made more than 6 weeks in advance, payment can be made in two instalments (Direct Deposit only) with the 50% balance due three weeks before the commencement of classes.
