Both this workshop and our Visible Mending Sewing Party (held the afternoon of the same day), are part of the National Sustainable Living Festival 2019.
All funds raised will be donated to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre. Book both and enjoy a day of sustainable sewing and mending for a good cause!

Learn basic hand and machine techniques with which you can make simple repairs and alterations to your garments such as:
– taking/up, letting down and fixing hems on pants and skirts.
– taking side seams or waistbands in and out.
– closing or patching rips and holes
– sewing on buttons and other fasteners so they stay on

Skill Level: This workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced sewists who fancy a relaxing afternoon of mending and alteration with like minded people.

We will provide: All sewing equipment including sewing machines, threads, an iron, scissors, pins and needles.

Bring along: Your own garments for alteration and mending. Your sewing kit if you have one.

Where: The Gaye Abandon Workroom, 122 Buckley St, Footscray.

When: Sunday 24th February 10.30 am – 1pm

Getting here: We are just near the corner of Buckley St and Victoria St in Footscray.

Where: At our bright, airy and spacious sewing school: Level 1, 9/131 Hyde St, Footscray

Getting here: We are located in the Hyde Business Park close to Yarraville Gardens. 6 minutes walk (550 metres) from Seddon Station or 10 mins walk from Footscray Station straight up Hyde St. There is street parking in Hyde St and customer parking behind the complex in Cowper St. NB. There is no visitor parking inside the business park but you can drive in to drop off/pick up things and people if necessary. See Contact Page for a map
