Sew Together – Sewing for Bigs & Littles

A Thursday evening four-week short course (8 hrs) course for budding sewists and their parent or caregiver, wanting to gain some valuable skills – TOGETHER!

PLEASE NOTE: BOOKING IS FOR TWO PEOPLE. Please include names of both participants in booking notes. We are limiting this class to four pairs, to ensure maximum teaching time for the group.

Skill Level:  Open to absolute beginners, we’ll start with the basics of threading a sewing machine and work from there.

Children must be 8 years or over, all genders and non-binary folk are encouraged to join our friendly group!

Course content:

Over the 8 hours duration of this course you will:

• Make friends with your sewing machine – learn about the parts and how they work, how to wind a bobbin and thread your machine.
• Become familiar with sewing terminology and the other equipment you will use.
• Learn and practice many fundamental sewing skills.
• Prepare, cut and sew 3 simple items using a range of techniques.

You will make:

Project 1 – Cloud Cushion or Lumbar Cushion

Project 2 – Zippered Pouch or Reversible Tote Bag

Project 3 – Wide-leg PJ pants or box top

Please note: The class projects may vary over the duration of the course depending on the preferences of the student group and the speed at which we get through projects. 

We will provide: Sewing machines and equipment if you don’t have your own. Materials for the first two projects.
