In this follow up session to our popular Pattern Making: Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite workshop, you will sew a finished garment from the pattern that you created in the first workshop (or a similar pattern copying workshop)

Prerequisites: Completion of our Pattern Making: Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite workshop (or a similar pattern copying workshop). Ability to confidently use a sewing machine to make simple clothing or accessory items.

About your Teacher: This class is taught by costumier and regular Gaye Abandon teacher Zoe Felice. Zoe has extensive pattern making and professional sewing experience. She has created costumes for film, television, theatre and cabaret productions and teaches students of all levels.

We will provide: Sewing machines and all other sewing equipment (or bring your own if you prefer)!

Bring along: — The pattern you drafted in our previous workshop (or similar workshop).
— Fabric (If you are unsure of how much or what kind to purchase take your original garment in to the fabric store. If you want to replicate the look and feel of your existing garment choose material of a similar kind).
— Any other notions required to make your garment (Eg. zip, buttons, thread, interfacing)
— You sewing kit and sewing machine (or feel free to use our machines and equipment)

Originally created as a follow-up session to our popular Pattern Making: Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite session, this workshop is now open all ‘beyond basics’ sewists.
Spend a fun and relaxed day of uninterrupted sewing with with guidance and support from an expert! Work on a project using a commercial sewing pattern or one you have drafted from an existing garment.

Prerequisites: Ability to confidently use a sewing machine to make simple garments. Experience laying and cutting out sewing patterns from fabric a following the principle of straight grain. Ideally you will bring your cut-out pattern to class ready to sew. If you wish to complete your garment the day of the workshop, we recommend you choose a simple pattern such as a shift dress, easy top or elastic waisted pants. We are happy to recommend suitable patterns.

About your Teacher: This class is taught by costumier and long time Gaye Abandon teacher Zoe Gymer-Waldron. Zoe has extensive pattern making and professional sewing experience and is much loved and admired by our students! She has created costumes for film, television, theatre and cabaret productions and teaches students of all levels.

We will provide: Sewing machines and all other sewing equipment (or bring your own if you prefer)! Advise on suitable patterns that can be completed over the duration of the workshop

Bring along: – The pattern you drafted in our Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite workshop (or similar workshop) OR a beginner to advanced beginner level commercial pattern (Big 4 or Indie).
— If you have the time and know how, please cut out your pattern before class to optimise sewing time on the day. If you are less confident bring your pattern pinned onto your fabric and ready to cut so we can check it
— Any other notions required to make your garment (Eg. zip, buttons, thread, interfacing)
— Your sewing kit and sewing machine (or feel free to use our machines and equipment)

Where: At our bright and airy sewing school: Level 1, 9/131 Hyde St, Footscray
