Pattern Making: Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite! Sat 23rd March (FULL!) OR Sun 14th April 10.00am – 2.30pm

Learn to trace a pattern off a loved garment without pulling it apart!

NB. This class is limited to a maximum of 5 people (rather than our usual 6) to ensure everyone has enough space to work. 

In this session you will draft one (or more) patterns from simple pieces of clothing you may have almost loved to death!

You will learn to trace a draft of your garment onto paper, then to “true” your draft– checking measurements, adding seam allowances, markings and hems to create a proper sewing pattern.

Please note: This is a pattern making workshop only. There is no sewing involved. If you are interested in sewing a garment from the pattern you create in this workshop (or a similar pattern copying workshop), we have follow up day long workshop– Sew It Up!: Sew Your Pattern! Recreate a Wardrobe Favourite Part 2 on April 6th.

About your Teacher: This class is taught by costumier and regular Gaye Abandon teacher Zoe Felice. Zoe has extensive pattern making experience. She has created costumes for film, television, theatre and cabaret productions.

Skill Level: An understanding of the basic principles of sewing and using sewing patterns is very useful but not necessary. No pattern drafting experience is necessary.

We will provide: Tracing paper and specialised pattern-making rulers along with beverages and lots of very useful tips and tricks!

Bring along: 1 – 3 SIMPLE garments you would like to make a pattern from.  We will most likely only have time to trace one or two of these. Your teacher will advise which garments are most suitable to use. Complex garments such as tailored items or those with many pieces are not suitable for this workshop.

60cm ruler if possible (drafting ruler is 60cm long)
