Overlocker Skills for Stretch Fabrics – Make the Plantain Tee Sunday 27th June 2pm – 5pm (FULL!)
Learn ‘beyond basics’ overlocker skills and sew the Plantain T-shirt by Deer and Doe in 3 hours!
In this ‘Overlocker Skills for Sewing Stretch Fabric’ workshop, you learn overlocking techniques specific to sewing stretch or knit fabric. If you are new to using an overlocker, we recommend you also take our Overlocker Basics workshop on the morning of the same day. The two workshops taken together will give you next level overlocker skills that will change the way you sew!
Overlockers are the natural friend of knit or stretch fabric. They make stretch garments super speedy to sew and the skills you learn can be applied to a wide range of clothing including street, active and underwear. Learn the tricks of professionally applying rib bands to necklines, sleeves and hems along with other hemming techniques using both your overlocker and sewing machine.
Skill level: Suitable for students who have completed our Overlocker Basics workshop or those who already use an overlocker in their sewing practice. Students must be competent using an overlocker for basic sewing and finishing. You will have an understanding of how to thread your machine and troubleshoot minor tension problems.
We will provide: Overlockers if you need to use one of ours. All other sewing equipment.
