Kid’s Beyond Basics Sewing from April 24th


A fun class that for girls and boys who know how to use a sewing machine.
Tuesday nights 4.30 – 6pm April 24rd to June 12th 

Over eight x 1 1/2 hour lessons, your child will build on their basic sewing machine skills and continue to gain the confidence to make simple clothes, accessories and crafts with and without sewing patterns. They will make two to three projects over the term including a piece of clothing, a bag and a pencil case.

This course is suitable for children eight years and older. They may bring their own sewing machine or use one of ours. Our small class numbers (5 students) means each student receives lots of personalised attention. 

About your Teacher: This course is taught by teacher, costumier (Zoe Felice) and mum Zoe Gymer-Waldron. Zoe is also teaching our Kid’s School Holiday Workshops on the 10th and 12th of April.

We will provide: Sewing machines (if needed) and all other sewing equipment. Project patterns and lots of encouragement! Fabric for practice and initial projects.

Bring along: Your own sewing machine if you would prefer to learn on that. Fabric for the skirt and shorts projects. The teacher will let you know what is needed in the first lesson.

Kid’s Beyond Basics Sewing Course Tuesdays 4.30 to 6.00 from April 24th

A fun 8-week long Kid’s Sewing Course for boys and girls alike! The children will gain confidence in their stitching skills and learn new methods while working on two projects.

In this twelve hour kid’s sewing course over eight weeks of classes, the children will:
  • consolidate their skills in set up their sewing machine and prepare the threads ready to start sewing
  • get really good at stitching straight lines and curves and adjusting stitch types for various uses
  • learn to troubleshoot when things don’t go as planned
  • be introduced to new techniques for constructing garments
  • make two or three projects

Sewing is a great life skill for kids to learn. Gaining confidence in using a sewing machine is the first step to realising any number of creative textile projects from tote bags to clothes and toys!
