Mending & Alteration Skills: Learn to mend, alter and upcycle garments you already own. Maximise your wardrobe!

Fix your op shop finds or shop your wardrobe! Learn hand and machine sewing techniques with which you can make simple repairs and alterations to your garments such as:
– taking/up, letting down and fixing hems on pants and skirts.
– taking side seams, waistbands or darts in or out.
– closing or patching rips and holes
– sewing on buttons and other fasteners so they stay on
– refashioning the clothes you own to give them a new lease of life!

or, if you already have some sewing experience, tackle some trickier fixes such as fixing zips or more advanced wardrobe refashioning with the expert advice and support of your teacher.

Skill Level: This workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced sewists who fancy a social afternoon of dedicated mending and alteration time. As we can’t focus on teaching basic machine skills in this workshop, some experience sewing with a machine is essential if you want to use one for your fixes. If you don’t have sewing machine skills, most mends and alterations can easily be made by hand. 

We will provide: All sewing equipment including sewing machines, threads, irons, scissors, pins and needles you will need to fix your op shop finds.

Bring along: Up to 4 garments for alteration and mending. Your own sewing machine if you prefer it to ours. Your sewing kit if you have one. We also have basic equipment available to purchase along with Sewing Starter Packs
