Know the basics of the sewing machine and ready to start sewing clothes? In this course, you will learn to read and understand patterns, pick suitable fabrics, and begin constructing your own garments, with lots of expert guidance along the way.

Skill level: Those who have completed a Sewing Foundations course or who have previous basic sewing skills but are not yet sure how to tackle making a garment from a pattern. This is a great course for out-of-practice or self-taught sewists who want to get back into sewing or learn more formally.

We will provide: Sewing machines and equipment.

Bring along: Your own sewing machine if you prefer it to ours. In the first week we will guide you through some suggested sewing patterns and what else you will need for your chosen project. You will need to purchase your pattern, fabric and notions ready for week 2.

What you will get: You’ll build confidence using a sewing pattern to create a garment from start to finish. You’ll learn how to trace your pattern, which you can keep and reuse again and again. By the end of the course, you’ll have a completed garment (depending on the pattern chosen). If you don’t finish in class, you’ll receive clear guidance on how to complete it at home.
