Beginners Plus Sewing Course – Term ONE 2025

Build on your skills from your Beginners or Learn-to-Sew courses in this confidence-building class!

Course overview: Our first class will involve a special shopping night at Fabric Deluxe, down the road from our new space in Whitehall St. We will all meet there and go through patterns and fabric choices, to help you get familiar with the process of choosing and starting a project.

The following five weeks will see you get expert advice and tuition on the chosen project at our new studios in Footscray.

You will need to purchase a sewing pattern and fabric of your choice. We will help guide you and will have a list of prescribed patterns we recommend for your skill level.

Skill level: Open to those who have completed Beginners and Learn-to-Sew Short Courses (or who have previous basic sewing skills) but don’t yet have the confidence to dive into the self-driven Beyond Basics classes. This is a great course for out-of-practice or self-taught sewists who want to get back into sewing or learn more formally.

Men and non-binary folk are encouraged to attend. Open to adults and young adults (minimum age 14 yo)! Feel free to contact us if you are unsure if this level is best for you.

We will provide: Sewing machines and overlockers. All other sewing equipment.  (BYO machines and sewing kit if you prefer).

Booking Policies:  Due to our small class numbers, our courses are NON REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE. Be sure to familiarise yourself with all our Refund and Cancellation Policies before booking to avoid disappointment.
Make-up classes for missed classes are offered at our discretion depending on availability however we will do our best to fit you in.

Payment Options: Secure Credit Card (via Stripe) or Direct Deposit. If selecting Direct Deposit, payment is required within 24 hours of booking to secure your place. Our bank details are in the confirmation email you will receive upon booking. 

For bookings made more than 6 weeks in advance, payment can be made in two instalments (Direct Deposit only) with the 50% balance due three weeks before the commencement of classes.
