Learn To Sew – Short Course
Our Lean To Sew Short Course runs for 4 weeks and begins Saturday 30th June!
Learn the essential stitches and sewing techniques you need to get started, in our Learn To Sew Short Course with 12hrs tuition over 4 weeks. You can practice on one of our classic Swiss made Berninas, and later model machines or bring your own machine if you prefer. You will gain confidence in your stitching skills and learn new methods while working on a range of projects. Along with the basic machine skills you need to get you started as a sewist, your teacher will show you various hand stitches for finishing and fixing, pressing techniques and tips and tricks for using sewing patterns.

It’s an introductory workshop for budding sewists wanting to make clothes, homewares and crafts using sewing patterns and a machine. This workshop combines the key elements of our Sewing Machine and Sewing Pattern Basics workshops and is pitched at absolute beginners.

Regardless of your skill level, you will learn and practice invaluable sewing and finishing techniques that can be applied to many projects. Don’t worry if you have never used a sewing machine before, a second teacher will be on hand for the first two weeks of the course to guide you through the sewing machine basics.

How to sew knit fabrics
Beginning April 13th is our 4 week Knit Fabrics course where you’ll learn how to sew a wide range of knit fabrics to make street wear, active wear and underwear!
We will cover specialised techniques for sewing garments with stretch fabric using both a standard sewing machine and an overlocker. You’ll make and take home four garments using both cotton stretch fabrics such as jersey, interlock, fleece and rib and synthetic knits like lycra and tricot.
